    hmm, wonder if it's the slug slime or dog pee that stops it steaming up?

    I too have M1s and rotate them as primary/backup. I always spit in the backup just before stowing in pocket pre-dive.

    Just a little note of thanks for all of the replies...

    I popped both into the dishwasher (took the straps off first) - whacked it on a 50 degree was (think it ran for about 3 hours! Sorry environment!) - have tried both since and both seem fine now... one did mist a tiny amount, but it really was a tiny amount, certainly no where near as bad as it was..

    Really appreciate the tip and all of the feed back.
