Dive Reels

Afternoon All.

Towards the end of the year but just had time to complete another Divers Reel in a different style over the last week. ( Cunningly named "Divers Reel V3" )

No sir not an advertiser - a bloke with a lathe and a website and a complete misunderstanding why dive torches have to cost £hundreds, scooters cost £thousands etc, apologies if the links have caused offence. The intention is to share but if you feel I am mistreating 'your' members then it will stop.

To his credit Mr Mal PM'd me after I asked if a site robot had flagged the links ? Appears there is a person that doesn't like what I do so 'raised some concerns ' .... well it is what it is.

Mr Mal gave me some BS that 'I was taking people from the site' - what ? I thought that is what Forums are for ? sharing ? Its not like I am running a competitive forum ... is this stopping the kids from playing across the street ?

Anyways - Mr Mal says he will take a look at the site on Monday as he is away for the weekend - ironically I actually only started the site as I had some free time in the evenings when the last one left for Uni and wanted to learn web dev, thanks to all the DIY'ers out there I now pay to keep the site running as you have all made it very popular, I did offer to contribute to this site as I know it can be a burden supporting this stuff ... not that I am minted, just a day job.

Bit disappointing really - would have preferred the concerns to have been raised directly with me ...

Please don't stop posting links to your DIY projects. I think they're great, and I thought on the torch project, hacking the LED module so you can drive it with lower than 12 v was inspired.

From the OP, I can see why someone might have thought it was advertising (I probably would have thought that if I hadn't seen post #3).

I enjoy reading about your projects and would hope that most
of the community see no harm being done. Some of us even
chipped in to start this forum so we could see what others are doing.

I enjoyed SubSurface posts too.
so maybe here they were being over keen :-)

I am more than a little surprised that some of the contents of my *private* message to you have been reproduced here.

Had you portrayed yourself as a private individual with a real name, my approach would have been different for sure, but you still sign yourself "like a company" and your website still looks like a company website - if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck etc. ... I have an amount of time to make an assessment and as I told you in the pm, I do make mistakes. Even having looked again at the site I still come to the same conclusion and it is only the testaments of people, who are prepared to be more open about their identity, who have vouched for you, that means I am prepared to give you the benefit of the doubt.
