As has been said elsewhere. How do you ensure that a project to link the north with the south gets completed? Start in the north.

Sunak has realised that he is going to lose the next election so he has grabbed the cash from HS2 and is using it to essentially bribe electors with small piecemeal projects which lack any co-ordination or overall strategy as his last ditch attempt to stave off electoral disaster - I am hoping that it is seen through but I know that the "media" will be praising his "vision". It will lead to a smaller Britain destined to continue to decline (except for those people / companies that plough money into the Tory coffers).

CPO land is supposed to be offered back to the original owner first. At current market value, though. Not the original price paid. So the original owner pays the government for having done feck all but sit on the parcel of land and if they say no it's open season from Wimpey and Barratt. Nice little earner there for someone. If it's had any work done then they can claim they have changed the character of the land and offer it straight to the open market. You can bet there will be a lot of land improvements being claimed because they've cleared some brambles or put a fence up.
