Why is a vegan taking courses in animal management? Surely their belief is that all creature run free and wild.

No. Veganism is the idea that you can (if you wish) choose not to consume or utilise animal products. Vegans can and do keep pets which - by definition - are not "free". The young woman in question is foolish in that her desire to look after livestock would avoid the reality of keeping animals in order to utilise them in some way for human benefit. As well as eating animals we torture them for drug testing and abuse them to carry loads (including human cargo).

i suspect rather than "snowflake" - a stupid right wing term of abuse - she is probably trying (foolishly IMHO) to make a point. There is a need for people to look after animals in a (theoretically) non harmful way - that of zoo keeper. (Personally I see keeping an animal in a cage as problematical whether it is to have halfwits peer at it or to eat it). There are (I think) zoo keeper courses and perhaps she would have been better suited to that. So either she is trying to make a point (and failing) or was very badly advised by the people that interviewed her and accepted her on the course.

But it is a great story to reinforce silly stereotypes and deflect attention from the criminal activities of the Tory government. (Past and present)

Good to hear that the complaints were not upheld.

Interesting to think that someone who might work in "Animal Management" didn't consider prior to signing up there are parts of animal management are not all fluffy and clean - sometimes actions need taken that might cause pain and suffering or even death. Wonder what her opinion on putting animals in pain down are?

I am sure that she probably did consider these issues. Nurses and healthcare professionals also have to consider the same issues but are not expected to visit beheading executions in Saudi Arabia as part of their training. What is your view on assisted suicide?

"Fiji Willets has refused to engage with the Curriculum team regarding the alternative options offered to her or the taught elements of Unit 19.”
That for me is the key statement from the college.

My brother had to do a week in an abattoir as part of his butchery training, I don't think he lasted 10 minutes.

    Exactly.
Sounds like the college has bent over backwards to accommodate her beliefs. All she has done is run to the media crying victim.
