Interesting that a number of the incidents involve cyclists riding across that pedestrian crossing. I've had several near misses with cyclists suddenly swinging off the pavement on to a crossing in front of me.I had an argument with one who had a real go at me and wouln't accept that pedestrian crossings were meant for pedestrians, not cyclists.
There are only two things that are infinite, the universe and Tory corruption and I am not sure about the universe.
With apologies to Albert Einstein.
Well, there is scientific evidence that people are pillocks when behind the wheel of a car and are more likely to pull out in front of a cyclist / motorcyclist if they do not ride themselves.
This is evidence that they don't see us:

This one is part of the reason why they don't see us:

And a bit more

Here is a solution

So the are looking but don't see us as we are not that expect - if they were forced to cycle before being allowed to drive the problem would reduce. But that will never happen.

I witnessed a nasty accident on a pedestrian crossing when I lived in New Zealand. Car hit a pedestrian and badly injured him. Police and Traffic Officers were called to the scene and they were all very reluctant to take the lead in charging the driver who was clearly at fault. I learned afterwards that he was a High Court Judge!

Love the fact that they released the snake after disentangling the boy.

"...are we human, or are we diver?"
I was just looking at Wildlife t-shirt carrying the slogan 'what happens next is up to us', and thought that can apply to many things.
Us equals me and you, not the other chap.
I'm still of a mind that there are no accidents, just incidents you didn't prepare for. SMIDSYs, for example, are not as inevitable as some people seem to think, if you approach the situation assuming that the daft beggar definitely hasn't seen you, even if you think they have.

I do try to lock eyes with drivers that look like they might pull out of side roads - I've only had one surprise leaper outer doing that.
Definitely don't doubt Dawn - not if you value your life
