Having parked once near a skunked car I got back in and relocated the car!! Skunk spray is utterly rank and does not wash off
Noticed it quite a bit in America (they seem a lot more common in the South). Quite often had that really rank smell (you WILL know it if you ever come across it) and it takes a few minutes to clear your nostrils if you catch wind of it.

I believe tomato juice is the preferred method of neutralizing the smell.

Do you sniff it??? Or rub it on affected surfaces. Not that I anticipate encountering a skunk but who knows we have two badgers in a den only 10m from where I sleep.

Well maybe, they do dig up the lawn a lot. 15 years or so ago we had a family in a set under a cedar tree, we are an oasis and wild life corridor but with about 3/4 acre in the middle of a well developed residential area. I filled it in when the family departed and old brock died (smelt a bit). Over the last year there has been increasing activity with the old set being re excavated. The camera trap I have set up eventually showed two in the same video, grooming.
