Dear all,
I wondered if I could source some information/suggestions/opinions from you all regarding the location of p-valves on drysuits.
I have seen them positioned in varying locations and wondered why, are there benefits to these locations, or problems in others?
I have seen them in the crotch area (I try not to stare), the thigh and the calf...
Without wishing to be too graphic, I assumed that perhaps the shorter the distance your pee has to travel from tip (speaking from a male perspective here) to water the better. I also wondered whether, for a calf placement, wouldn't this mean you'd have a fair bit of hosing (careful now chaps) running down your leg before it reached the valve... would this require a bit more force to push the pee out of the tube?
The crotch location just looks like it would be in the way (crotch strap on harness etc), although would have the shortest hose routing internally... the thigh placement, not sure, could it get snagged on stuff, or cause rubbing on your leg, or just look more obvious when standing in a group and you decide to wee down your own leg! The calf location presumably would mean you'd have to move a bit more in the water to open the valve?
I do not yet have a drysuit and have not had the pleasure of using a pee valve but this is something I would wish to know about before purchasing one etc.
Any/all information/thoughts/suggestions/opinions welcomed...
Thanks in advance,
Rob
