Just out of interest, wondered if the two were mutually exclusive...

I wouldn't say they're mutually exclusive but once you have had the real thing, the Vegemite just tastes like a cheap imitation!!!
I don't know if it is still available but you could have put Bovril down on the list too!

Promite (which I've only ever found in Australia) is far nicer than either.

But if the choice is only Marmite or Vegemite then it's Marmite every time.

Marmite is the food of Gods, vegimite is a colonial imitation that has no place in a food cupboard.

I've just been given a jar of Marmite Gold and I'm wondering if my environmental stance against micro plastics in consumer products will allow me to eat it.

What about Bovril though. I think i prefer that.

I like both Marmite and Vegemite but sometimes Marmite too strong (hence why i voted for Vegemite).

When I went to live in New Zealand for four years, Marmite was one of the things that I really missed, along with Stilton, proper beer (though they do some good brews there these days), heavyweight newspapers.

Vegemite just wasn't the same.

I do quite like Marmite but I've never had Vegimite.

However the latter is Australian and therefore must be rejected as inferior on principle.

Vegimite is vile, does not have the consistency, colour or taste of Marmite

On a, less than amicable, break up with an aussie girlfriend I came home to find an empty house and the only thing.in the food cupboard was a jar of vegemite.

Now you see, to me, that meant she still cared.

Not as much as if she'd left you Marmite though.

On the bright side; you could go to the supermarket whereas she would forever be Australian.

I've just been informed that the flecks are not micro plastic and I can eat my MG with a clear conscience. I'm off to make some toast.

If you've only just been given it probably came from Aldi, that's where we found ours discounted :hi:

You have to accept that if you're buddy has no marmite they are likely to rip yours straight out of your mouth...

Marmite is the food of Gods, vegimite is a colonial imitation that has no place in a food cupboard.

I just read that as "colonic irrigation".

Heathens. ;) We all know [insert prefix here]mite is just a waste product from beer production, and should be treated as all waste products should. In particular, as all bio-contaminants should, by incineration.

has to be marmite, anything else just seems, well wrong really

my wife use to hate marmite with a passion, and then she actually tried it...
