Hi
I recreantly got a inspo and cant get on with the harness so have fitted a BP onto the unit. Having read stories about the bolts pulling through the plastic case im a little worried so have thought its best if i get a frame for it as i need about 5 kilos of extra weight to what i have on twins hopefully it will take some of the weight off too.

I have thought about buying a box however the only one i like is the PLTD however its aluminmium and i want it made of stainless.
Im thinking of attempting to build one my self.

If it works i would obviously release te plans for everyone to use.

Just wondered if anyone had done this previously and had any plans i could look at before starting afresh. Also any measurements that people could take of frames they are using atm would be of great help.

Thanks in advance for any help i get :D

The bolt ripped through on mine when the unit was completely stock and only had a few hours on it from new. I've just gone back to the AP harness, still with the alibox though.
Have you had a look at the Kent Tooling frame. I think that's stainless steel. Might be less grief if you ask John to modify that to your requirements.

whom do you go to if you want things out of marine grade SS?
who makes prettiest things out of 316SS? and is also a very decent chap?

Yes but who already makes such things too?!! Are we talking relaunch or all new variant of another recent product innovation (which I have admired in the flesh when it was out being tested incidentally)? If the former, it's too heavy for what I'm after. The latter, well, that's a whole different kettle of fish!
The million dollar question is will I be able to find out at the NEC?!!

Ive got a G-Box on the way, Ill let you know how I get on with it.

Dont get rid of your AP harness just yet - people often go back to them.

I tried but I hated it too much. It's dire and lets down the entire unit. Late 80s BCD technology, complete with dangly bits like a jester's motley.

new product all together. he is making something similar for another unit and will adapt same thought process for the inspo frame.

apparently it will not be a nasty ikea flat pack look alike! - not that I have something against flat packs or ikea!!

now you need the bone shaped BP from KT and proper one piece harness...

I also have the armadillo tail as dont like clipping stages to the stand.

... and oddly enough, I might just have 2 off counterlung to 2" webbing slides and a 5mm dog bone backplate available in the near future!!!

I need to buy some things from Kent tooling anyway at the dive show so will speak to John then.
I was thinking along the lines of a folder steel box that I could make my self but will see what people have in the pipeline
Thanks for the replys

I have a very well made stand which might be a good starting point?
It's a very high grade stainless spine 600 tall about 10 thick and forty wide with holes with eleven inch centres
It has a base about the size of a sheet of a4 with well rounded edges..
It weighs in at 5 kilos.
I can take photos and measure it exactly ....but ...later! Trying to keep the peace at a six year olds birthday party:=-:

Can you pop some pics up if you get chance no need for measurements just take the pic with the scrubber next to it or something like that so i can get the rough size.

My Plan was 24 cm wide and 19 deep i think with 5 sides for the back part of the box. Similar shape to the PLTD frame but not constructed like it. The canister would be fully enclosed with a cut out on either side at the bottom for the 1st stage hoses to go through i will try and design it on auto cad or similar however im crap at using it :D

Any ideas keep them coming

Also will 2.5mm stainless be thick enough?

Similar shape to that but the canister will slide in from the top the only way to open it up would be to undoo the bolts holding the front sections onto the rear one so i guess with a little modification could hinge down. I shall have to see what i come up with and see what everyone thinks about it
