Mystery wreck, Kilmaluag Bay, Skye

Hi everyone, am new to these forums and am posting on behalf of my dad who was a very active diver in the 70's and 80's.

In the late 70's my dad and his mate dived a wreck on the north shore of Kilmaluag bay, Skye (approx. OS grid ref.NG437752). He belives it to be a "gentleman's yacht" of early 20th century construction and around 50' in length. They estimated the age as it was powered by a big single cylinder "hot bulb" diesel engine. they think it ran aground in the late 20's/early 30's.

They salvaged a few artefacts at the time. I am sat looking at a 12" brass porthole, sat on my fireplace, as I type.

The mystery deepens as there was quantity of ammunition (dad says 9mm) in ammo boxes concealed around the engine bearers, in what would have been the space under the engine room floor plating.

Also my porthole has what appears to be a bullet hole through the glass, from the inside.

They never managed to find any information on the wreck, my dad's theory that it was involved in smuggling/gun running for the IRA.

What we wondered is has anyone dived the wreck, found more information, or even a name?

Old thread I know but I've been around that wreck on and off since the 70's. I live quite close to it, 12 miles as the 'crow flies' or RIB travels. Not much left of it now right enough but the local legend goes that it was gun running and called the Sympathy, perhaps the owner was 'sympathetic' to a cause :-)
