When I did my MOD1... Simon said there was no such thing as a standard KISS... :) What mods have you done...?

Well, it came with the god awful VR3 style handset, I replaced that with a Shearwater Pursuit and fitted a Shearwater HUD too (bought that off of some kind chap, cant remember his name now, was it Mark Chase???).
I had a Northern Diver Sea Eagle wing which I use, definately not the best wing to use, but it was cheap. I have a stand which lifts it up about 150mm and tips it back about 10degrees so it doesn't tip over. I use standard 3l cylinders. BOV and MAV are standard. Narked at 90 Molex cells. It is a great unit.

After a long search I found a Portland Oceaneering Stainless Counterlung case and imported it from Australia... :) That was the start ... and I've not stopped. I'd just like to swap the lumpy ADV.

Risking all, I'm going to say I've never had problems with my ADV, except for a perished diaphragm, which was replaced with a bit of motorbike inner tube. I did like the look of that puck replacement, but it looks like they aren't available anymore (but tbh, I haven't looked too hard).

I've had a few problems with the ADV stem.... gas leaking past. I've polished the face and replaced the stem but I still get it on occasion... The diaphragm bit is OK ish... but could do with being a bit heavier. The best mod I've done is a rEvo triple block with orifice..... Its a magic bit of kit.

I used to have CK#211.

Mods I made to mine were a replacement SS CL case (brilliant). It stopped the corrosion dead and meant I could take a lot of weight off my belt. I also had the Shearwater GF and later Pursuit / HUD. Again brilliant. I had cooper hoses, which didn't make too much difference. And I also changed the paragon reg to the Aqualung micra. But apart from that I made relatively few changes.

I have the Mares Proton reg which is OK ish, it worked on a bail out at 67m. A buddy in my club has modified his BOV to take an Extreme.

I dive with a group of 6 other CK divers at Stoney as often as we can get together... one of the guys has the Poseidon Mk6 BOV with the built in ADV and likes it lots... Had hose adaptors made up for it by Martin@Tecme.de

I have a really cr@ppy Northern Diver Sea Eagle wing, I bought cheap during my open circuit days and just transfered it over. Never had any problems in 6years of using it.

(Thinking of casting a piece of lead the same size as the spine, could get away with slightly wider for more weight then drill the correct holes)

I have a shut off on the 02 side before the kiss valve, although it adds a few o rings I like to check my 02 reg is seated properly and I have no 02 leaks. Standard over the shoulder gauge on the 02 side.

I have removed the manifold and now the dil reg has only a OPV, a feed to adv, a feed to the wing and a button gauge.

My bov is the standard mares one, has a hose that goes behind my neck and pokes out just past my left shoulder d ring, I connect this with a large bore cejn to my bailout

My adv used to be a bit hit and miss so I cut an extra square of rubber to space it inwards a small amount and now its has been working perfectly ever since... Easy to trigger but won't go on its own. Still fine and I usually hold a negative test for hours...

I have 2 x 4L lungs..

The shorter 17” hoses

Have started using some cut to fit scrim from ap valves in the top of the scrubber to cut down on dust.

Until recently I have been using standard dive lime sofnolime but have recently switched to the larger round ball type, very low wob. And have been using it for same amount of time as usual without any problems so will continue to use it.

I use a divetite plate as its very flat and keeps the) as close to my back as possible unlike my old very deeply V'ed plate from twinset days

Have a dual kidney with shearwater hud and predator attached

Is the extra 2l of counter lung usuable ?

Was looking at the msr bags earlier thinking about getting the 6l..

Breathings fine just thought 2l extra could be handy if any water got in

yes, it hangs lower and fills the reg hole, but I slip the tanks down so the regs sit into the stand base. It trims better that way.
The extra 2 L allows you to collect water and a dump valve would let you dil flush it out. I've tipped about 1l from there after a leaky dive.
(unit passed pos and neg but started leaking @ 63m; I'd over packed the scrubber and it only became apparent at depth, back @ 20m it didn't leak anymore)

I have it on the exhale side. Dip right shoulder to let water run into the bag. Inhale side would mean water having to travel up centre tube to get to the lung.

If I could have one I would have it on the bottom of the scrubber ala sentinel

would have to be careful with it though wouldn't want it failing !

If it could be completely sealed and only opened when needed that would be best in my opinion

Yea, if wearing the unit the gas comes in from the left of the BOV and
out the right side of the BOV. then into the down tube in the stack through
the lime and then back out via the left hose so I guess the exhale lung is on
the right. I haven't even had my unit in the water yet so that could be connected
up wrong.

I've checked mine and its set up the same, but all the water collects in the exhale lung if you dip you shoulder or keep horizontal trim. Hence why I put the 6L bag there.

When I first heard of your flood I was very puzzled about how water that entered where canister joins the head, ie, the the inhale side of the scrubber, soaked it's way down through the lime then found it's way back up the centre tube into your exhale counterlung.

It seemed to me that if water entered at the top of the canister, and you were horizontally trimmed, it would splash across into your inhale lung / hose and most likely give your cells a good soaking on the way.

Have you considered that the leak may actually have been on the exhale side somewhere - BOV, counterlung, OPV ? - and that water flooded into the exhale lungs and down the the centre tube, and the bubbles from the canister join were a symptom of the (now heavy) canister distorting - rather than the cause ?

I occasionally find a little water in my unit and, like you say, it's always in the exhale hose / lung - the inhale lung is always bone dry. I've assumed it's mostly drool + other BOV related stuff - less than perfect clearing on practise bailouts, maybe loose lips, etc. To be honest the amounts are so trivial I've not given it much thought . . .

Miflex LP hoses - just because that's what it came with.
Dumped the original Proton and grafted a Scubapro GS250 onto the BOV (not an easy fit, but a great reg - and I happened to have it spare !)
GS250 is fed from a long hose down my back to my left hip - CEJN to offboard.
AP mouthpiece on the BOV (highly recommended)

Recently bought the AP gag strap thing, but not tried it yet.

Other than that it's standard, with 4l exhale, 2l inhale lungs, original ADV, MAV, etc

. . and a Combro backplate/Diverite Classic wing straight off my twinset.

Good point, I guess a scrubber canister half full of water would still be buoyant - just less buoyant than normal. A canister full of water/lime probably would probably put less stress on that joint that one full of air/lime. There goes that theory !

My unit got it's first taste of water under my ownership today.
It was just a short 10m dive just to see what it was like as I have
never diver CC before. I'm glad to say it behaved perfectly and was
a pleasure to dive with, I just need to work on my buoyancy a bit now
and get out of the bad habit of trying to use my lungs for fine tuning :)
