is anyone on here involved in the world of commercial diving?
i'm a civil engineer, and do mostly inspection work, and wondering if there's a call for someone like me with an HSE commercial license? i'm thinking of inshore/inland stuff that could be done with the HSE scuba qualification, at least initially.
any info that anyone can give appreciated.

Big Matt. part one commie diver here, with u/w inspection tickets from 94. just like to point out that in over 20 years of inshore diving, i was mostly never asked to do inspection work at all. so i let all my inspection tickets lapse - just like many other guys i know. i don't believe it would be any different for you inshore either. even worse if all you had was a scuba ticket - not even a part three or a part one.
u/w inspection is what offshore inspection divers normally get up to. so all the guys i know doing weld inspection are working offshore. for inshore work with u/w welds, you'd be better off doing a part three. or better yet - a part one, plus a welding code like aws 3.6. then you could do inshore u/w welding jobs. that's not inspection. but for that, you'd be better off thinking about offshore, not inshore. cheers + good luck.

thanks for the reply. it's pretty much what i was expecting but needed to hear it from someone that's been there and done it.
think i was looking for a magic way to earn a few extra pennies and claim my dive get as expenses at the same time.
