OPV cleaning

Do people clean their OPVs and if so how? During some correspondance, VR stated that this you needed to be certified for the repair of a Life Support equipment to take it apart and put it back together again!

Reason for asking was mine had to be taken apart and I was amazed at the amount of caked sofna that had accumulated inside.

Since I dive mine fully closed it really doesn't do much unless I forget to vent the loop on an oc ascent ;)
