Potting electronics - O2 safe and non-toxic

Evening all,

For those who service their own heads - what potting compound are you using for SMB connectors?

I have used dielectric grease historically, but it's messy as it doesn't cure and want a better solution.

Had a look at a number of epoxy and silicone solutions but none of them can confirm if they are O2 safe and non-toxic when cured.

What are the great and good using?

O2 safe? You won't find that.
But seriously how much O2 is going to be across the thing, 1.6 bar max, usually in a sopping wet environment. You could waterproof the things with denso tape and still not worry about fire IMO.

I am neither great nor good, but I've used some clear potting compound from rapid electronics for potting the back of SMB connectors, and the tubes which contain my isolation resistors and I'm not dead.

Hi...I haven't attempted it for preparing purposes yet clear silicon caulking sealant (GE brand is acceptable) that is sold in tubes is truly economical and I would figure it would make a decent contender for a modest preparing arrangement with great electrical properties.

I think ‘standard’ silicone sealants release acetic acid (that vinegar smell) when they go off. You can get fancy silicone for electronics purposes but I just used the stuff roofers use to seal lead roofs. It is grey and cheap. This wasn’t for a ccr though btw.
