Does any one use 300bar cylinders for their on board gas?

Can you even get 300bar fills of O2?

Do you need different 1st stages?

Tempted from a "less weight on the belt" point of view!

id not bother with 300 bar for the unit , you can get fills but it will need to get a 2nd top off once cold ,
your prob looking at 260/270 in your 300 bar cylinders once cold , so only a bit more gas than a good 240 fill , in 232 cylinders

and yes you need 300 bar 1st stages ,

if you have said cylinders and want to use them no problem , but id not go out of my way to buy a set ,

ps
iv had 300 bar o2 fills in the past . but id think some shops wont want to do that for you , prob tell you some HSE bollox

tho im sure someone will be along to tell you quite the opposite lol

300/3 on a kiss makes you massively negative, its unpleasant.

Are you still on the original ALU CL case?

I never read anymore than 270 on my 300 once cooled and I only use it as a decanting cylinder for a second dive when out on the boat

Yeah still using the standard case.

I wondered if I'd get away with zero additional lead on 300bar 3's. I hate weight belts (mainly because I invariably forget to put them on) and the KISS isn't great for hiding weight in.

So DS4's don't come 300 bar as standard? That's a bummer!

Ds4 should be 300 as standard

I guess an option would be to put roofers lead inside the CL case.... its flat and easy to mould.

DS4's are 300 bar as standard.

I have a 6lb top hat that fits on the top of the scrubber and it's all I need
to get down with 3l dumpies, also helps with trim.
I'll get a photo and post it if it helps.

If I could get 300s that would fit in my yellow box I'd buy them today.
Yes I can pump 300 bar including O2.

Sadly the one 300/3 I have is just too big so sorting out a replacement valve isn't worth it.

I used a fat lead acid torch canister on my belt and a steel backplate with my KISS. I was fairly neutralish with (dumpy) 3's.

I'd go for the lead flashing idea, it's easy to shape. I use it on my twinset. Or cast something to shape, it's easy to make a mould in green sand.

Plus every home should have a bucket furnace. They are great fun.

I used 300bar 7's as stages once on a 60m wreck in the Clyde. Fastest 60m I'd done in my life.

A picture would be great! I didn't realise the HP 3's were significantly bigger than the standards? What are we talking, more length, greater diameter or both?

I think I will see what my LDS can pump to and make a call based on that.

I've had an incident moulding lead weights...it's lucky I'm so agile or my safety flip flops would have been ruined

300 bar O2? The best O2 fill I've seen so far is 180 bar!!!

For most dives 180 bar is loads. 300bar would only be of use for a weekend away really. Also if the pump is not massive it will take for ever to get there if there is much missing out of the J.

Huh? My pump has a warning on it not to compress pure oxygen beyond 345bar.
Great for top-offs before a weekend away when you need only get a fill for the suit bottle.

Are the benefits of being able to pump o2 to 345bar worth the risks? Surely a 2nd cylinder would be more favourable and provides redundancy?

My 300 bar cylinders get 300 bar and my 232s get 232.
None of this 180 bar if you're lucky lark.

Even if I could get a 350bar cylinder it wouldn't be any good as the regs aren't rated to that and I'm a coward.

I don't dive with dangly cylinders except big big dives. That sort of thing negates all the advantages of having a rebreather in the first place.

I'm afraid not, it came with my unit.
Though I would think it would be easy
enough to cast in a sand mould.
Just don't wear flip flops ;)

There is a stainless steel countering case coming up for sale soon. If weight is what you want, kiss diver with loads of bling stuff.
PM and I'll put you in contact with the seller

mr mints, if its one of the portland oceaneering (dave) specials, grab it. replace the stainless spine with studding/nuts and roberts certainly related to your mother.
