View Full Version : BOV causing mask to leak

I started diving a Kiss Classic with a Golem Gear Shrimp late last year and have a bit of an annoying problem. The top of the BOV touches the bottom of the nose pocket on my mask so occasionally it knocks it enough to cause a small leak in the mask. I know the mask is a good fit as it's fine OC.
Has anyone else experienced the same issue or got any words of wisdom?

Smaller mask?
I use an Omer freediving mask with my Golem and it's fine.

I did think about a smaller mask but I'm already using a Hollis M1 which is pretty small.

sound like either your mouth is too close to your nose or you need to rotate the hoses at the T pieces so the BOV sits at a lower angle.

Had the same issue with the M1, I binned it. The Beaver Atomic is a better less conflicted mask for CCR.
I would also look at your loop weighting, you need to keep the BOV down and the shrimp is very very floaty.

Plastic surgery then? No T pieces but I have been twisting the BOV to try and keep it resting on my chin.

Thanks, I'll have a look and try moving the ring weights further towards the BOV.

I had same trouble recently after servicing bov. Realised I had refitted at wrong angle. Reset it angled down a few degrees.

don't just twist the hoses. slacken and rotate the hoses relative to the BOV to re-set the angle the BOV sits when it's dangling free so that it naturally points down a little when in your mouth. it can take a bit of playing with to get the BOV naturally sitting at the right angle in your mouth.
