Hi Guys
I am traveling to Malta and may not be able to carry a suit inflation cylinder on the plane, could it cause a problem using the 50% bail out for suit inflation at depth because of the high PP02 will be diving to around 60m on some dives.

Heated vest? Electronic car keys in undersuit?

You'll need O2 clean keks..

I know of divers that have used 60% for suit inflation with no problems. Don't know of anyone using richer than that. It's not unusual for CCR divers to use the rich bail out for suit inflate,

Can't you hire one out there?

If you are diving to 60m and your bailout is 50% then I think you might have other issues

Did I read somewhere before that high o2 in a suit was an attributed cause to a skin bend? Or did I just imagine that?

I know of a diver who was using a high O2 for suit inflate on a deep
dive and he said his suit kept inflating on deco so he unplugged
the direct feed and it still inflated, he believed it was the high O2
drawing the helium out through his skin.

I've used the richer bailout on deep dives only because of trimix in the other stage, without any problem other than the routing of the suit inflation is a ball ache.

Not again unless I have to because of that. I'd be surprised if you couldn't hire one.

I carried a suit inflate bottle on the plane to Malta several times. In hold luggage with rest of my dive kit. Was ready to remove valve to show empty but they never asked. Always with Air Malta. Who you fly with ?

I've taken suit inflate cylinders to Malta in hold luggage but did get called over the PA and ended up being escorted to the conveyor belt room where my bag had been pulled over. After showing they were empty, all was fine. Wasn't entirely comfortable being taken to a part of the airport I clearly wasn't meant to be in minus passport that they held onto, bit odd.

+1 or borrow a 2L full of air and attach it to your CCR somehow.

OT completely but I'm interested in the OP's thinking behind the choice of 50%... seems an odd mix to me.

How hard did you laugh?

I have also taken a suit inflation cylinder to Malta flying Air Malta.
You need to demonstrate that the cylinder is empty at check in.
