    Achtung! Spitfire!

Crate found in Burma Spitfire dig | British Forces News

Please please please please be OK. I'd love to see/hear a flight of 30 going overhead in a few years time.

NB: At an airshow / not in anger.

Very cool. I wonder what other stuff lays buried around the world after the war.

The way the defense cuts are going we may be glad of them.

Well, if you find it on a dive DON'T hit it with a hammer 'cause it might be live and you'll end up ascending way too fast!

I wonder if they can be converted to launch from a carrier.

Good job that it looks like they are finding some planes as we seem to have lost one round here this week

My late father was in the RN during the war, after europe they were sent to Malaya.

His last duties were at Singapore guarding japaneses supply depots. Stores included standard dress diving suits and helmets.

Everything was loaded onto landing craft, taken outside the harbour and dumped over the side.

He was allowed to bring home an officers sword which is still in the family.

Today on Radio 4 they said that they had come to the conclusion that there are no Spitfires buried in Rangoon airport but a British guy seems to think that they are looking in the wrong place.

A good friend of mine is involved in this. They have nearly sealed a deal with the government to remove it all and bring back to blighty. V exciting stuff.

                            Achtung! Spitfire!

My buddy who's an engineer working on this is convinced they have located 25-30 crates. Fingers crossed huh!
Would be v sad if its all for nothing.
