The reason we went with printed rather than embroidered was two fold; price and speed.

Notwithstanding that, I can see the advantage for embroidered logos/details on the front of a polo shirt, but my experience of having something embroideredthe size of the logo on the back means that after a few washes when the material shrinks at different rates, it looks pants!

Happy to speak to Christian about prices for embroidered polo shirts and see what comes back, but I seriously don't think embroidered logos on the back of the hoodies is a good idea.

Are you using the same supplier as for the last lot of clothing?

I had a hoodie and it was fantastic quality. If you are I may be tempted to get one, eventhough I have absolutely no need for anymore hoodies (or if you ask HWMBO no need for anymore clothes at all!)

I would also be happier with an embroidered logo on the front, not worried about the back though

If we run the thread to the end of Jan, it will take a week or so for the printing, and to get the goods to me for distribution.

Sorry, Beaker, but you wont have it in time to take it to egypt! ;)

Agreed, so leave the back plain and embroider the left breasticle area with the logo, like the ones from t'other place used to be.

I don't trust the screen printing unless assurances are given that such a big logo wont crack... If it does it will only be fit for wearing to clean the bilges and £30 is a bit steep for that...

The reason we went with printed rather than embroidered was two fold; price and speed.

Is there really that much in it?

Price? Just picking a random hoodie embroiderer off the Internet, I can get 12 "chunky" hoodies (i.e. 400gsm) embroidered on the front, and delivered to me for about £25 each. Add in shipping back out within the UK, and I've still got change from £30 to donate to charity. Certainly the last hoodies that were done for YD were a much lighter weight fabric so will be significantly cheaper.

Speed? All delivered within 3 weeks.

I'm with you on that. However, £30 for a screen printed hoodie is, IMHO, over the top - even if it is for charity. That's the sort of price I pay for one in somewhere like Fat Face, where I'm paying as much for the name as I am for the garment.

I did a run of hoodies for a forum not so long ago, the general vote was for the forum logo on the left breast and the nickname on the upper left sleeve embroidered. Turned out nice but was a bit of a pain getting the orders spot on.......

Hi, I have been involved with the development of the TDF clothing line and am currently set to provide them.

I have been producing good, hardwearing clothing for my own company for several years now, and have not had any negative feedback with regards to quality to date. I spent a long time researching manufacturers and screenprinting processes, and I now have a line of products that I would, and do, wear. I feel the same way about cheap, lightweight, badly printed clothing as a lot of you do, and it is not what I aim to provide to my customers, it would be great to see one of tees in a far flung place in 10 years time!

I am happy to take on board peoples comments/suggestions, I especially like the onesie idea:) but if people are going to be negative and critise the products that several of us have spent a long time developing, then the simple answer is to not buy anything. I personally have spent time sending e mails and developing the clothing line, and as the proceeds are going to charity, I have offered the products at cost, with no mark up.

I was just using this opportunity to say my piece, as people are slinging questions around. I am sure I have opened myself up for abuse, but at least I have put my side of the argument forward.

NB. Seriously? hot pink onesies?

Spirit of Guernsey
10-01-2013, 09:22 AM
I don't think that there is any abuse about the product. It seems that a number of people (me included) would prefer a more discrete embroidered logo than a large printed one.
